emilie autumn - the asylum for wayward victorian girls

"This story is not meant to educate and entertain. The author does not advocate suicide or self-harm of any kind in any way whatsoever. If you are suffering from a mental illness and require counseling, please contact a certified professional. If you feel that you are in immediate danger, please call your local emergency hotline."

"Taking my first good, hard look around the place I have just learned might be my home for quite some time, my eyes are instantly drawn to a long, thin string haning from the wall beside my bed. Above this string is a sign reading "PULL ROPE TO CALL NURSE." My obvious thought is that the string could easily be used as a weapon of self-destruction, and, if I can't have a pencil, then what the fuck? Imagining for a moment that it could hold my weight, I envision myself knotting the string into a noose and pulling it down around my neck. Then, when the nurse is called as a result of my "pulling the rope," she will enter the room to find my body dangling ironically from the string. That, in a place like this, is pure comedy gold".

"And when master's displeased I'll be down on my knees again."
(Marry me).

First of all I haven't finished this book yet, but so far so good. Emilies intelligence and irony is bloody brilliant! So what is it about? Well, I do suck at explaining things but here it goes; Emilie tries to commit suicide but emergency is there in time to save her. The doctor who gives Emilie her medication tells her that he won't continue doing that if she does not accept going to so called "suicide watch" for several hours/days. So she does. She signes the papers and is stuck there for more than a while.

Emilie is not allowed to have a pencil to draw or write in her diary with as her own therapy since she can hurt herself or others with it. Later she will be allowed to have a crayon and even a real pencil! One day Emilie finds a letter from Emily with an y, Emily like Emilie is stuck at a asylum too, BUT hundreds of years earlier.

The book also contains; cutting diary and drug diary ect.

Emilie is so much more than just a suicidal girl. She is a singer, songwriter, preformer, vegan and probably the coolest person in the world!
